looks like, come and worship at Christ Church LA."                                                                  - Donald Jacobs, Lead Pastor

Welcome to Christ Church in Los Angeles!

We're located right in the heart of Koreatown — one of the most culturally diverse neighborhoods in downtown Los Angeles. Since 1970, our church has been serving our community with the heart and hands of Jesus.

If you're looking for a church home to grow in faith and experience community, Christ Church is where you and your family can thrive. No matter what you face in life — whether you need freedom from addiction, are experiencing anxiety or anger, need healing in your mind and body, or just lost hope in life, we will walk alongside you. So bring your messiness, brokenness, or happy self, and encounter Jesus in a fresh, new, and meaningful way. Hope to see you on Sunday. We can't wait to meet you.

WHAT WE BELIEVE

At Christ Church Los Angeles, we are rooted in the foundational truths of the Christian faith, guided by the Holy Scriptures. Our beliefs are centered on a singular, powerful, and loving God who reveals Himself to us in three distinct and co-equal persons:

● God the Father: We believe in God the Father, the Creator of heaven and earth, who sovereignly orchestrates all of history with a perfect plan. He is a loving and compassionate Father who desires a relationship with His children.

● God the Son: We believe in God the Son, Jesus Christ, who is fully God and fully man. He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, and voluntarily offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all humanity. We believe that salvation is found in Christ alone. He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life, and no one comes to the Father except through Him. We believe in His bodily resurrection from the dead, His ascension into heaven, and His promised return to earth.

● God the Holy Spirit: We believe in God the Holy Spirit, who indwells every believer from the moment of salvation. The Holy Spirit is our Comforter, Advocate, and Guide, empowering us to live a life that honors God and bears spiritual fruit.

We believe that salvation is a gift from God, made available to us not by our works, but by grace through faith. It is a free gift received by placing our trust in Jesus Christ, confessing Him as Lord and Savior. We believe that all who believe in Jesus will receive the promise of eternal life, a life of fellowship with God that begins now and extends into eternity. This is the good news that we are called to share with the world.

We believe that the Church is a beautiful reflection of God’s creativity and universal love. We are committed to celebrating and embracing diversity in all its forms—race, culture, nationality, age, and background—as a true testament to the unity we find in Christ. We believe that every person is created in God's image and has inherent dignity and value. Our desire is to be a welcoming and inclusive community where all are encouraged to use their unique gifts to serve and worship God.

Pastor Donald Jacobs has been the lead pastor of Christ Church since 2019. Born in Little Rock, Arkansas, and raised in Muskogee, Oklahoma, Pastor Jacobs grew up in church and was mentored by his maternal and paternal grandparents — both preachers. As a young boy, he sang in the church choir under the direction of his mother, who served as Choir Director.

In addition to ministry, Pastor Jacobs also worked in corporate and non-profit sectors as a business leader in technology, medical supplies, banking/finances, and the services industries. He is also the founder and CEO of 5 For Freedom, a non-profit corporation that built a memorial to recognize and honor Veterans that served during the Middle East wars.

Pastor Jacobs is the father of five children, ten grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. His favorite food is soul food, as long as it includes rice and/or beans.
